Uniting Bartenders in Paradise

Waikiki Cocktail Scavenger Hunt

We are hosting a fun filled night of bar scavenging this Sunday with 100% of our proceeds will benefit non-profit organizations including the Hawaii Children’s Cancer Foundation. The Cocktail Scavenger Hunt will send teams all over Waikiki searching for cocktails. We will provide you with a list of 20 bars and a list of ten cocktails. Match the ten cocktails with the correct bar and you will win. Prizes include gift cards to the Halekulani, Apartment3, Nobu, and more. Get there at 8 for team registration and drink some complimentary cocktails made by Dave Newman (that’s worth the price of signing up by itself). Oh, the price, it’s $100 per four person team. If you come alone, we will try to make a team for you at $25 a head. Hope to see you there.

Shake it up

I figured I should pass on some info to you bar folks out there. In March, there is a teeny, tiny gathering called the Nightclub & Bar Convention in Las Vegas. At this get together there is a cocktail competition with $7500 going to first place and cash going to the top five as well as the individual with the best garnish. Seems like a good thing to shoot for. This is a very well-run competition so recipes are needed to be submitted and checked in advance. None of this day of the event garbage. Twenty-five people get selected based on recipes, which means there is no harm in submitting something if you are unsure. Recipe needs to be submitted by February 5th. So, let’s do this.

This is a SWS event and they have a very strict product list so check that out. Here is the link where all your wildest dreams come true.

First Official Meeting

Aloha barkeeps, barchefs and mixologists (ugh),

Our first official meeting as the Hawaii chapter of the USBG is going down on Sunday July 19th at 530 at the Halekalani Hotel in the Kiawe room. Beam spirits is hooking us up a bit and this should be a proper event for bar professionals. Also, Francesco Lafranconi is in town and he plans on demonstrating some techniques. There will be hor d’ourves in Lewer’s Lounge after. Lastly, free valet. Seriously Halekalani is rolling out the red carpet.

It would be great if you were already a member when you show up. Sign up as usbg.org for a bill. 80% of that money goes back into us throwing events. Also, you can show up and get a feel for it if thats what you prefer then sign up after.

See you there.

Huge mahalos to the Halekalani Hotel and Beam Spirits for the hook ups.
